What do we know so far about the shooters in the Chiefs Super Bowl parade in Kansas City?

Reports of gunfire at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade sent the world into shock at yet another shooting incident to come out of the United States.

People ran for cover as police immediately stormed the scene of the incident, with the news soon emerging that one person has died as a result of the shooting.

Here is what we know about those involved in the shooting. You can see footage of fans apprehending one of the armed assailants below.

What do we know so far about the shooters in the Chiefs Super Bowl parade in Kansas City?

Has anyone been arrested?

At the time of writing, police have confirmed that three people, who were armed, have been arrested in connection with the shooting. No other information is known at this time about those responsible.

Authorities have not released the names of the two people detained.

Was it a terrorist attack?

Early word from officials is that they believe the incident was not terror related and in fact a criminally motivated attack on the huge crowd. Chief Graves said the two people in custody are the gunmen, and he added that it was a shooting made by “a few bad actors”.

At the time of writing, three people are critically injured and five others seriously with one person declared deceased. Police say up to 15 people could be injured in total.

All players were immediately accounted for after the shooting occurred, and they were moved to a safe location having been on the stage around 10 minutes prior to the first shots being heard coming from Union Station. Mayor Quinton Lucas soon confirmed that none of the Kansas City Chiefs players, coaches or team staff were among those injured.
