The New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals will meet for Game two of their weekend series this Saturday in the Bronx from Yankee Stadium on the MLB Network. New York held off a Kansas City rally to take Game one, 5-4.

Royals Betting Preview

Kansas City comes in at 28-71 after falling to New York. The Royals came really close to stinging the Yanks last night, and they’ll look to complete the mission Saturday. The Kansas City offense is scoring 3.35 runs per Game, while batting .231, with a .295 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 5.29 ERA, with a 1.47 WHIP. Bobby Witt Jr. could be due after going hitless over his last five Games, but he still leads KC in hits (95), homers (16) and RBI (51). Salvador Perez is also hitless over his last three contests, but he remains second on the time 15 homers and 40 RBI.

Brady Singer (6-8, 5.70 ERA, 81 Ks) will take the mound for Kansas City. The fourth-year righty put together his longest outing of the the season last time out against Tampa, going eight full innings to earn his sixth win over the season. Singer has pitched noticeably better at home, as he’s allowed four runs or more in three straight road spots, and this test in the Bronx could be tricky.

Yankees Betting Preview

New York moved to 51-47 after defeating Kansas City. The Yankees snapped a four-Game with the Game one win, and they need capitalize again on the light matchup at home here. The New York offense is scoring 3.87 runs per Game, while batting .230, with a .298 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.87 ERA, with a 1.25 WHIP. Gleyber Torres brings an eleven-Game hit streak into this contest, and he’s leading NYY in hits (96), while posting a line of .263/15/40. Anthony Rizzo has gone hitless over his last four Games, but he’s posting identical splits of .244/11/39. Giancarlo Stanton homered in the series finale against the Angels, and he’s up to twelve homers and 30 RBI for the season.

Gerrit Cole (9-2, 2.78 ERA, 62 Ks) will take the hill for New York. The ace of staff returned to action with a gem at Coors field, striking out eleven in six innings, while holding the Rockies to one run, but a lack of run support led to no decision being rewarded. That’s happened to Cole a handful of times this season, but he’s still posting a Cy Young worthy stat line. Seven of his last eight outings have resulted in quality starts, so he’s managing to shine even with the Yankees struggling.

Kansas City vs New York Trends

Kansas City is 45-49 against the spread this season, with a 42-48-4 O/U record. New York is 45-47 ATS this year, with a 45-45-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

There’s a lot of underwhelming going on within both clubhouses, but the slumping Yankees do have the blessing of sending Gerrit Cole to the mound Saturday, and he should have his way with this KC lineup. The Royals have struggled to produce all season, and with their two leading contributors struggling, they might have a tough time getting anything going on Cole. It's the Yankees versus the Royals at home with Gerrit Cole on the mound, so let's not overthink and be optimistic here. Back New York for Game two Saturday.
