The San Diego Padres will host the Seattle Mariners for an interleague set this week from Petco Park.

Mariners Betting Preview

Seattle enters at 29-30 after being swept by Texas. The Mariners were overwhelmed at the plate all weekend, and gashed for 16 runs in series finale, and they’ll attempt to avenge that effort with a better week of play. The Seattle offense is scoring 3.67 runs per Game, while batting .227, with a .308 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.19 WHIP. Jarred Kelenic has collected a bit in seven of the last ten Games, and he leads the team in home runs (10). Ty France had five hits against Texas to bring his splits to .267/5/26. Eugenio Suarez plated a run in the series finale, and he leads Seattle in RBI (35).

Logan Gilbert (3-3, 4.08 ERA, 73 Ks) will start for Seattle. The third-year Mariner dropped his third decision of the season last week after allowing five runs in four innings to the Yankees at home. Gilbert earned victories in his two previous outings, including a strong performance in Atlanta, and he’ll look to replicate that interleague performance here Tuesday.

Padres Betting Preview

San Diego moved to 28-32 after splitting four with Chicago. The Padres closed the series with a shutout victory, and they’ll look to capitalize on Seattle’s struggles here. The San Diego offense is scoring 4.31 runs per Game, while batting .220, with a .314 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.95 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Xander Bogaerts recorded a hit in all three Games against Miami, and he leads the Pads in hits (54). Juan Soto plated a pair of runs in the Game one win over the Marlins, and he’s up to a team-lead in RBI (17). Fernando Tatis produced four runs in the Game two win over Chicago to bring his splits to .257/11/27..

Joe Musgrove (3-2, 4.71 ERA, 34 K) is set to start for San Diego. The eighth/year pitcher appears to be finding his step after earning two straight wins with consecutive quality starts in Miami and the Bronx. Musgrove struck out six in 6.1 innings pitched against the Yankees, then he followed it up six scoreless innings against the Marlins last week. If Musgrove is back in Business, this could be big for the Pads.

Seattle vs San Diego Trends

Seattle is 28-31 against the spread this season, with a 29-25-1 O/U record. San Diego is 24-36 ATS this year, with a 19-35-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Seattle will limp into Southern California after being torched by Texas, and that momentum may carry over into game one. Joe Musgrove is starting to figure things out, and I feel like he comes through with another solid outing against a struggling Mariners lineup. Fernando Tatis is starting to heat up at the plate himself, and the Padres feel trustworthy in home spot. Back San Diego for game one.
