World Superbike: Alvaro Bautista to make quick 2024 decision

After returning to the Ducati fold last year following a two-year spell at Honda, Bautista stormed to a first WSBK crown with 16 wins, 13 of which came in full-length races. The Spaniard has made a dominant start to his title defence with eight wins from the opening nine races, with a clean sweep of the six full races. He already leads nearest rival Toprak Razgatlioglu by 56 points, having beaten the Yamaha rider by 72 points last year. Bautista’s contract with Ducati expires at the end of 2023, and it is unclear if he will choose to continue racing beyond the end of the season.  Paddock rumour suggests that an announcement on the 38-year-old’s future could be made as early as his home WSBK round in Barcelona on May 5-7. Nima Momeni, the owner of an IT company, has been charged with murder. The suspect in the killing of 43-year-old Cash App found er Bob Lee is set to be arraigned in a San Francisco courtroom on Tuesday. The suspect, Nima Momeni, is the owner of an Emeryville, California-based company called Expand IT. He was arrested earlier this month and charged with murder. Momeni allegedly drove Lee to a dark, secluded area and stabbed him three times, according to a motion filed by prosecutors earlier this month. World Superbike results: Bautista completes Assen victory sweep

The Superpole race featured a straight fight between Bautista and Kawasaki's Jonathan Rea, with the Ducati rider again emerging ahead in a repeat of Saturday's result . Yamaha's Toprak Razgatlioglu joined the battle for victory in the final race of the weekend, only for Rea to crash out on lap 6 and turn it into a two-horse race again. Despite Razgatlioglu's best efforts, Bautista was simply too quick to be beaten and he went on to claim Ducati's 400th win in WSBK. BMW's Michael van der Mark was diagonsed with a left femur fracture after suffering a painful highside crash on the second lap of the race.
